Canon Law in English

For many years language was a major impediment to accessing resources in Canon Law.   It’s still a problem but not nearly as bad as it was.  Canon Law resources in English were first developed by Dr. Ernest Caparros with Midwest Theological publishing.  Those canon law publications in English, started in 2007.  They supplemented the English-Speaking Societies contributing to English resources for canon law through their annual Conferences.  Each Society has an annual conference, and all members have the availability of the published Proceedings of those conferences.  Non-members can also access a limited number of the Proceedings for sale, by contacting each group’s headquarters and arranging a purchase.   Most notable and reasonable Societies include The Canon Law Society of Australia and New Zealand, The Canadian Canon Law Society and the Canon Law Society of Great Britain and Ireland.  I have an Australian/New Zealand Conference on my bucket list.  I have long been a member and so although I have never attended, I have accumulated at least twenty of their proceedings. Same with Canada and Great Britain and Ireland, although I have been in attendance at those.  

The Australian/New Zealand Conference starts today.  Itstopics are important to the Church in Australia and New Zealand, and so to the universal Church.  You can get a full copy of the program for free at:

It looks like a very good and solid conference, I say wistfully, because I will not be at that conference in person.  But I can dream….
